I’ve acquired a bunch of terrible box art as of late – why not celebrate some of the worst of the batch we’ve covered thus far?
Super Duper Sumos (GBA, Midway)

What exactly is going on here? Is this a pea soup shitting orgy or something? Of all the colors to render butts slapping together, that is not the choice to go with. On top of that, why are they uniting their asses in some glorious Wonder Twins merging? This is just a disturbing box all the way around. *runs away*
PS – Grace is reminded of the infamous scene in Requiem for a Dream with this box. She says people will know what she means. :p
Legendary Axe II (Turbo Grafx 16, NEC)
NEC did not hire the most competent artists for their boxes. This is a prime example why. Let’s start with Mr. Happy on the left. He looks more like he’s performing the hammer throw in the Olympics than the gladiator he’s dressed up like. And the loincloth has a rather odd slit that sort of makes him look like a woman *snort immaturity* with awkward genitals. The guy on the right also looks oddly happy, but has a better loincloth than his comrade. The background is mirrored, to, for ultimate laziness. Yep, I’m geared up to swing some axes now. *snore*
Valis III (TurboGrafx CD, NEC)
Valis III is a Cultural Anxiety piece waiting to be written, apparently, with this atrocious lady drawn up Western-style and anime cutscenes boxed in as a selling point. Those goons look better than this ET-inspired face on this poor woman, donned with her sweet-ass conical breast armor and a terrible haircut. And is she stabbing herself in the leg? Man. Loathsome.
