Music Wednesdays – Buddy Holly’s “Peggy Sue”
Did I mention I like oldies? Here we go way back to 1957 with Buddy Holly’s #3 hit “Peggy Sue.” What I really love about this song is its driving drumbeat. Perhaps, then, it’s appropriate that the song was actually named after the drummer’s fiancee.
This was also one of the first ever rock songs to have a sequel, “Peggy Sue Got Married,” although it wasn’t released until after Holly’s tragic death. We can only imagine the amazing music that Holly would have created if he had lived on.
