Stephen Rippy’s musical career treads down two paths. He is a singer/songwriter, having recorded nine independent albums of his own material. However, of interest to Tunage is his contributions to Microsoft’s Age of Empires series. He was a member of Ensemble Studios from the start, and was with that developer until their untimely demise following the release of Halo Wars. Rippy’s excellent ear for accurate instrumentation has made each of his soundtracks for Ensemble a musical odyssey, with several standout tracks that define the sound of their respective games. Since Ensemble’s closure, Rippy joined Bonfire Games. After it merged with Zynga, he became the company’s Audio Director, a position he still holds.
Rippy has created some of the most memorable music in PC gaming history, and he absolutely deserves a place among the greatest musicians in gaming lore. Thus, LVLs. is honored to induct Rippy into Tunage’s halls.
