About LVLs.

LVLs. was originally created on August 6th, 2001. Originally conceived as Wildcat Online, it was a personal website, meant to share and express things of personal interest to me. I’m Jerry Fieldsted, aka Wildcat, just to clarify. Since 2001, my site has maintained that path (although the things I have placed on the sites have changed immensely). In mid-2006 I made a decision to split off a section of my then-tiny webspace towards my love of video games. I had dubbed this new section Lvl. Focusing on reviews, various features and some art galleries of my favorite games, Lvl. quickly grew into becoming the heart and soul of Wildcat Online, eventually taking it over completely in 2008. At that time I added a staffer, Nester, to help me in writing articles to further expand its content. Following the Jeff Gerstmann/Gamespot fiasco, I decided that our Review section would be renamed Opinions. I wanted to share what a review ought to be considered as, an opinion. One that would not be changed by the infusion of some bigwig company’s cash flow. Early in 2009 I finally reached my tolerance limit with the limited space that I had been confined with for 8 years. I did a little digging and settled on relocating Lvl. to WordPress. With that change came many improvements, namely that Lvl.’s previous games-only format was no longer required. I love books with a passion, and also enjoy anime and music. Why limit myself to only one of the elements that drive my life? And thus, LVLs. was created. From May 2009 to September 2012, the blog primarily served as a gaming news/features/art blog, which was more than adequate for the time! Others joined Nester and I, including TEi, grace, and Jason X. However, in October 2012 I had the first epiphany that maybe I should reconsider the format for the site. After a month hiatus, LVLs. was relaunched and attempted to be a more critical anthropologically focused blog, but there really was too much history established to properly retool it the way I wanted to. In January 2013 I announced a second, longer break, and after more deliberation I confirmed in March 2013 that the site is no longer going to be updated. In all, the initial experiment of LVLs. was successful and I am proud of what we all accomplished. It’s just time to move on.

LVLs. was administered by Wildcat. Retired editors include Nester, TEi, Jason X and Grace. LVLs. is hosted by WordPress.com.

LVLs. was born from the ashes of NEOMEGA.NET & QUARTER-TURN.NET.  Your time was cut short.  But your legacies still burn in the hearts of those who knew you. Rest in Peace, old friends.
