Gifts Imagery

Here is a collection of fan art donated to Wildcat Online (LVLs.’ predecessor) and LVLs. over the years.  These include many pieces from old forum friends, and offer a glimpse into what I used to be into.  I’m not the Tifa/Love Hina fanatic I used to be when I was a teenager, that’s for sure. :p  I’ll also blurb a little about each piece underneath it (as best as I can remember).  Thanks again to everyone who has donated art to me for whatever reason!  I really do appreciate it!

Cammy by Goukigirl
This is from an old SRK/TNL’er.  I don’t recall when I got it (nor does my computer help me in figuring that out XD ), alas, but I’m sure it was for a site anniversary contest, probably the first.  I like the linework on Shadoloo Cammy quite a bit.  I wonder what she’s up to these days…I haven’t seen her for at least 6 years. XD

aika[1] bacon mcshig
Aika by Bacon McShig
Bacon, a TNL’er, did this sketch for me in 2006 I believe.  He has a very unique style, but I think it works with Aika’s feisty behavoir.  Since Got-Next shut down, I haven’t seen him…hope he’s doing well.  Was a cool guy.

Cammy by Shadow[HB]
My old forum buddy Hiten did this for me back for 2003′s art contest.  Taking a look at his site, I can see how much he’s grown since then.  Heh, he still has my old link on his site.  I’ll have to drop him a line one of these days and see how he’s doing.  Looks like he’s been busy!

clairegrace
Claire by Grace
This was my wife’s first drawing of one of my characters. Claire had longer hair back then, I see.  I love love love Grace’s art.  I don’t quite remember what year this was done…but it’s still awesome.  She says this is her least favorite of the four she’s done…but I still like it.

clairewilddaigo
Claire by WildDaigo
This was way back in 2003 (I think) when I got this sketch from SRK’er WildDaigo.  He had really liked Claire’s design, and I think he did a good job capturing her two sides very well.  She can be really happy, but can also be very melancholy as well.  Haven’t seen him for a while, either…

crystal[1] hiten
Crystal by Shadow[HB]
Hiten’s take of one of my original characters Crystal.  She’s been retired since he did this back in 2004 or so, but he did get a solid grasp of her attitude and hobbies with this pic.  Another great sketch.

drachma masamune
Drachma by Hiker of Games
Mr. Hiker did this sketch for me last year as part of the NinDB Christmas Secret Santa.  I think he did a fine job capturing Drachma’s personality.

drew grace
Drew by Grace
This is my wife’s favorite sketch of the four she’s done for me, and it also happens to be the one that has influenced my character the most.  Drew’s hair was not originally like this, but her sketch was so cool that I altered his design to reflect it.  She also nailed his perverse attitude – it almost looks like he’s trying to peep on somebody. :p

Ed[1] soujiro
Ed by Soujiro
A very appropriate rendition of Cowboy Bebop’s hacking genius (although I must admit that I’m pretty sure this is close to an official work of CB) from an ex-Lounger.

vyse dreaded fist
Vyse by Dreaded Fist
DF did this awesome Vyse sketch for me in 2006 or so.  He won that year.  I really can see this as a concept piece for a sequel to Skies.  One of my favorites, easily.

epharim samuszero
Epharim (young) by Samus Zero
A fine sketch of a younger Epharim from Fire Emblem: Sacred Stones.  Kind of has a Kingdom Hearts vibe to it.  Samus Zero has not been seen at NinDB for quite some time, that he hasn’t.

Fina[1]Ammadeau
Fina by Ammadeau (Aaron Matthews)
Ammadeau is a solid artist whose work I’ve watched improve over my time at TNL and Got-Next, and out of his work, this is my favorite (doesn’t hurt that it was for me!).

shi and april by rook
Shi Kurai and April Reynoso by rook
Outside of Grace’s fan arts of my characters, rook’s take on Shi and April from my Adventures of Shi Kurai comic is my favorite gift I’ve gotten.  He nailed their personalities, and I love his sketchy yet crisp style.  rook and I go WAY back to 2001, and our friendship continues (although we don’t see much of each other online these days).  Awesome work.

Janelle by Grace and myself
This is a collab my wife and I did of my original character, Janelle.  She did the face and hair, while I drew the upper torso.  It was interesting to blend our styles together.

Kaolla Su by rook
Another cool sketch by rook.  I used to be quite into the Love Hina series, and I strongly believe it was Su’s awesome personality that did it.  I’ve sold off my Love Hina gear long ago, but this is still a marvelous sketch of my favorite character from that series, so I have no qualms about holding onto it.

Marie by poykun
Poykun was a cool guy over at the Lounge forums back in the day.  He did this sketch for me of my character Marie, and I think he nailed her personality.  She never smiles, you see, and he captured her neutral demeanor quite well.

Meowth by dunlap
Ah, Dunlap, I wonder where you are these days?  Definitely an awesome guy, miss seeing him.  Anyway, I have to admit that although I’m not big into Pokemon, I do adore Meowth.  I’m not 100% sure why, but I’ve always thought he was a cool design.  If I remember, this won whatever year’s contest it was.

Mihoshi by Hero
This remains one of my favorite fan arts I’ve gotten.  Hero over at TNL perfectly drew her.  I had a big crush on Mihoshi back in 2001/2002, so naturally I was quite smitten with the piece.  While the silly crush has ceased, I still think this is a fantastic sketch.  He’s evolved quite a bit these days – even got into the Darkstalkers Tribute book, which I think is hella awesome. :)

Mihoshi by mrdandy
Mrdandy is well known over at the CG Shrines under a different penname, cum.  Unsurprisingly, his work there is mature rated!  Heh.  At any rate, dandy is a great artist, and this Mihoshi sketch is well done.  I just realized how opposite this is from Hero’s in terms of how Mihoshi flaunts herself.  lol

Me, by Grace
Curious what I look like?  Well, this isn’t too far off course.  Pretty accurate, I’d say.  Man, I need to work on Grace to draw me another picture.  I just love it.

Ashley, Bria and Bryan by John Joseco
John and I were briefly in talks to work on a collaboration on a project of mine, but he got busy with his own work (The Lounge kicked off around this time, if my memory’s right), so this was all that resulted from it.  Which is fine with me. I like seeing my characters interpreted by other people, and John did a fine job with these three.  Two of them are retired now, but I’m still doodling Bryan.

Mike by godpeedonmydog
A former Lounge forum-goer (well, she may still be, I don’t know), who magically captured the color of Mike’s speaker shirt without any hint or reference.  Still eerie.  She did a fine job capturing his easy-going personality, that she did.

Verdugo by TVEye
Teev over at NinDB was asking for requests for a new technique he was trying out, so I suggested my favorite RE4 boss, and he did it in a day, which floored me.

Vash the Stampede by Shinobi
Here’s another SRK’er who’s vanished.  I think that Mike did a fine job capturing Vash, that I do.  Have to wonder what he’s up to these days…2002 was a long time ago!

Tifa by John Joseco
Yes, back when I was a wee teenager, I had a massive crush on Tifa from FF7.  Seems so…silly to me now. :p  At any rate, John did one helluva job with this sketch.  This is in my opinion the best work he’s done, and it was for me, so I feel pretty privileged.

Aika by kohta
I like how Kohta drew Aika to look really confident in this sketch.  She nailed her attitude quite well, I’d say.  Very nice work!

Vyse and Gilder by TEi

A very cute sketch of Skies of Arcadia’s pirate lads TEi did for me for 2010′s Thanksgiving.  Thanks, my good man!
