Like So…this webcomic?  Now you can dig into the biographies, creation notes and further reflections of the cast, completely rewritten from scratch for the updated project (you can find the older bios here, if you want to see how I’ve changed them as of late).  Thanks for looking!

Alexia

Age – 20
Hobbies – Skating, learning to master the bass, poetry, reading

Alexia is a quiet, somewhat reclusive woman who is trying to break out of that shell.  She loves to skate, play her bass guitar and listen to punk music.  She has taken an interest in photography, but hasn’t gotten the money to get a nice camera quite yet.  She likes reading melancholy poetry, and dabbles at the craft once and a while.  She really likes Chad, but hasn’t gotten up the courage to do anything about the crush yet.  She plays bass in Yoshi-Li’s band Hadagi and is a part of the University Creative Writing club.

Creation Notes – Alexia was originally conceived as a fluke arranging in the N64 WWF Attitude Character Creation editor…and I liked what I came up with, so I decided to try to draw what I had made.  From there, she has developed and become one of my favorite characters.  She had brown hair at first, but in order to differentiate her from Kristyn (who also had brown hair and a beanie), I made her dye her hair a maroon shade.  Her hair has varied in length – it started out about a little past shoulder length, and has only recently has become the length it is now.  The bangs were an important aspect of her Attitude character, and I’ve been refocusing that aspect of her lately.  She always has a leotard on – the idea came from a high school acquiescence who wore one to school a couple of times, and I thought “that’s hella cool” or some other exclamation of high school brilliance, I’m sure, and Alexia became the recipient of that article of clothing.  It suits her quite well, I think.  The beanie’s been there since the get-go, pretty much – only the first sketch I have of her lacks it…and it looks weird. :p  Her right eyebrow used to be the one that’s pierced, but now it’s the left.  Why?  I make it so! :p  Her eyes are green.  Her name came from Resident Evil’s Alexia Ashford.  She can be a little stern and cold, but there’s an awesome person buried under that shyness.

Anthony

Age – 26

Anthony is excitable, positive and loud – good features to have when you lead your own band as a singer!  Anthony sings for 1,2,3, Done, a hard rock outfit that Janelle, Ben and Trent are all a part of.  Outside of screaming or serenading, Anthony is an otaku gaming nut who spends a lot of time on the TV.  He leads both clubs at Sagara University, and is a passionate leader for both.  He also enjoys cooking various dishes – may explain why he makes pizza at the Campus Cafe (and why they are actually good!).  Anthony’s hyperness can be a little jarring if you’re not used to it, but he could be one of the best friends you’ve ever had if you get to know him.

Creation Notes – Anthony is based on my best man of the same name, and while I rarely see him these days, he was a stalwart friend and ally through the difficult high school days and is quite possibly the second coolest person I’ve ever known (Grace is first :p ).  I’ve modeled him after his more modern look, but throw in bits of his past here and there.  He really does sing in a band, although I’m not sure which one at the moment, as I’ve not had the chance to talk to him lately.  His clothing is usually black or red, and he has a tattoo on his right wrist of a symbol from Naruto (in real life, too).  He has brown hair and brown eyes.

April

Age – 18

April is outspoken, quick to defend her friends and doesn’t put up with any one giving her shit.  She used to fight guys a lot before she moved here, and gets a thrill out of the intensity of battle…although she rarely gets into fisticuffs at the university.  April often ditches class and walks all over campus contemplating – as a result, she’s not the greatest student.  She likes to sweat and keep fit, and spends a lot of time in the gym or on the track.  She also has become a bit of a gamer, really getting into fighting games.  She isn’t a member of any clubs.

Creation Notes – April is an original character from a graphic novel concept I’ve been working on since 2003 (wow, is she nearly ten years old already?).  Overall her design has managed to stay pretty consistent over the years, with her hair receiving the majority of my design tweaks.  It’s always been kind of short, but I’ve given it more of a shaggy look as of late, which I think fits her well.  She’s Hispanic, and I used to have her talk with a lot of Spanish intermingled with English, but while I think it could suit her to speak like that, it’s difficult for me to make it sound decent, so I’ve dropped that habit for the most part.  She still refers to guys as “chicos” and gals as “chicas”, though.  April doesn’t have much of a wardrobe – she has baggy jeans and a sweatshirt most of the time, with a sports bra on underneath the sweaty.  Her hair is a very light brown color due to her bleaching it, and she has brown eyes.   Her name is from a few friends in college who had the name April.  She’s incredibly fun to write for, but I haven’t really given her a chance to shine in So…this Webcomic yet.

Ben

Age – 21

Ben is a easy-going guy who has gained much maturity during his three years at Sagara University.  When he started, he hung out with Drew, and was about as perverted as he was.  However, between befriending and then dating Song-Li and getting involved with Hadagi and 1,2,3 Done  as their drummers, he lost that trait and no longer acts like a depraved lech.  Now he looks back and questions how he could ever have been like Drew (although they are still friends).  Ben is majoring in music, is an active member of the University’s skate club (serving as its vice president), and spends as much time as he possibly can with his girlfriend Song-Li.

Creation Notes – Ben came into being in high school, based off of a cool guy of the same name I knew then.  If I recall correctly, I began drawing Ben after his basis moved away.  As is the case with many of my early characters in their genesis period, he was too tightly molded to his origins and didn’t really grow much until I got into college, where he became an accomplice to Drew’s perversion antics, which suited him for a bit, but a sudden flash of inspiration came to me in 2004 or so when I drew a picture of Ben holding Song-Li, which radically altered his character from “just another pervert” to being a genuinely good guy in a healthy relationship.  Since then, Ben’s been a character that I still need to develop more, but he’s doing better than he was.  I invented the “Blowfish” skate brand for Ben, which he exclusively wears.  He’s blond, has blue eyes and likes the color red.

Blade

Age – Unknown, centuries at least
Hobbies – Plotting the creation of Skullfire, feeling smug, practicing his magic, making predictions based on his sixth sense
Favorite Band – Unknown
Best Buds – None at present in this universe. :p
Employment – Wizard…but it’s more an occupation than an employment. :p

Blade is a wizard from an alternate universe who occasionally appears in this one to test his theories of fate and/or to engage in battle with someone.  He is drawn to certain characters from a prior meeting lost to their memories, and is able to reignite their magical abilities with his presence.  Blade is sort of an antihero in a way – he’s got twisted intentions, but isn’t necessarily a purely evil person.  He won’t appear much, but when he does, something serious is about to take place.

Creation Notes – Blade is among my oldest characters, and is among my favorite “villains” I’ve developed.  While his origins were purely sinister, over the years he’s softened and become more or less a villain in a loose sense in that he’s antagonistic.  His symbol is the crescent moon, which he wears on a necklace and boosts his significant magical talents.  His primary weapon is a crescent blade strapped to his right wrist magically – he can sling it out like a boomerang and control it with a tendril in sync with his mind.  He can teleport, create massive waves of dangerous magical energy, and has an excellent sixth sense about the future.  He’s got sky blue skin, blond hair and piercing red eyes that resonate a blackish aura when he’s pooling his mana.

Bridget

Bridget is really into music, and spends a ton of her spare time and school time on it.  She’s majoring in it for one thing, and yearns to be a successful musician.  She plays on the street and in clubs and bars for cash, and is building up a decent reputation in town for her talents.  When she’s not in full-on musical maestro mode, she’s commonly hanging out with Marie, her best friend for years, and tries to perk up her sullen friend.  Her attitude is a bit feisty and rambunctious, and she gets a rise out of aggravating Chris.  She also enjoys astronomy, and is a member of both the Music Club and Starseer’s, a group dedicated to watching the night sky.

Creation Notes – Bridget was originally based on a friend I had in junior college of the same name, but has since shed a lot of that template and become her own unique entity.  The Bridget I knew wanted to be a musician and toted her guitar around with her constantly – I hope she achieved that dream.   As for my comic Bridget, she recently became infatuated with stars and striped shirts.  Not quite sure how that happened, but that’s the beauty of creative thought.  Her hair, a light brown color, flip-flops between being down shoulder length or up in a ponytail like this pic here demonstrates.  She wears a wrist band with a star on it.  She has green eyes, and is a quarter Hispanic, although it’s hard to tell just by looking at her.
