Yes, We’ll Have E3 Coverage Next Week

Last year I was out gallivanting in Chaco Canyon and Mesa Verde with Grace when E3 rolled around, and Nester and TEi did their best to keep up with all of the gaming news. Well, this year Nester is unavailable and TEi has retired, so it’ll be up to Jason X and me to keep you all informed. I’m excited about covering E3 again, although I will not be detailing out every single report and game reveal that happens. Instead, I plan on covering what catches my attention solely, and giving it more verbiage. Sounds more fun for me than merely spreading myself thin on things I don’t care about. I assume Jason will do the same. If you want COMPLETE coverage, well, there’s sites that pay people to talk about things that they don’t care about. :p If you want passionate, insightful coverage of topics of interest, well, we’ll have your back.

Now, Wednesday around noon I will suddenly vanish, probably in the middle of some good stuff, but it’s for a good reason. I’ll be recording a podcast with Game On Girl at that time, and I’ll pass that along to you once they post it up on their blog.

On that note, this weekend will continue being light from me. I’ve got some car business to take care of, among other things, so I’ll be signing off for now. See you on Monday!

A Light Week on LVLs. Approaching!

Sorry folks, but I’m going to not be doing a ton of updating on LVLs. this week. I want to work on my secret project, the George Macy Imagery, and continuing to figure out what games I will be selling off soon. So, all of those tasks counteract with being here! Nester is also in the middle of a move, so it will probably be very quiet for a bit, unless Jason has a lot to say. Consider this a bit of a vacation for us, eh?

Tunage Updates – Koji Kondo and Naoki Kodaka pages fully updated!

Slowly but surely that backlog is being conquered! I finally finished up Koji Kondo‘s page by compiling a proper discography for him, which took some time, busy man that he is. With Kondo finally done, I moved onto Naoki Kodaka‘s page and gave it the complete overhaul, and it has its videos all up to date and two new clips added in that I had omitted before. That leaves Michiru Yamane and Yutaka Minobe to receive the revision treatment, and then I can get into setting up posts for the new composers I’ve been meaning to do.

Looking Back – 1989 Features New Awards!

There’s much more diversity in my awards for 1989. Strider (pictured), Dragon Warrior, Ducktales, Cameltry, Mega Man 2, The Guardian Legend and Ys Books I & II walk away with positive rewards. I also hand out some dubious honors to LJN’s atrocious NFL Football, the awkward original TMNT NES game, the music for California Games’ Footbag, mock Alex Kidd, and slam Ultima Exodus’ shameful box art. Good fun all around!

I’ll be taking a short break from these to update some other things around here for a bit. I’ll probably get into the ’90′s in June.

Looking Back – 1988 is Award-Riddled!

I’ve gotten back into the swing of Looking Back updates, and now there’s a slew of awards for 1988. Bionic Commando walks away with Best Hero, Best Villain and Worst Song (aw), while Super Mario Bros. 2 makes its appearance felt with Best Heroine and Best New Enemy. There’s more, too, so check it out here. 1989 will hopefully come out today, too. :)

Wildcat’s Art Sunday – Housecleaning Hiatus

Whoops, I’ve got nothing to share today. I’ve been doing some housecleaning today, and I’m not too sure I feel up to doodling something tonight. Will try to make it up next week!

Looking Back Updates: 1983 – 1987, 2011 feature further awards and are more polished

I’ve been revising and expanding all of the Looking Back articles I’ve managed to get awards done yet again! Here’s what is new:

1983 – Mainly polishing. I did add a little explanation about the awards, too.

1984 – A new “Best New Enemy” award along with revision.

1985 – A new “Best New Enemy” award along with revision.

1986 – Just some editing here.

1987 – The Worst Game of the Year was extensively revised, and there’s Best New Enemy and a new Worst Song writeup.

2011 – The Worst Game, Best New Enemy, Worst New Character, Worst Box Art and Worst Voice Acting awards are all added in, plus that sweet revision.

Now I can get into the other Looking Backs! Enjoy the new stuff!

Summer Catch-Up 2012

Over the last year I’ve started several miscellaneous projects, yet haven’t had the chance to actually wrap them up. Over my break I’d like to whittle down that list into something more manageable. Here’s what I recollect needing to do:

Imagery

Finish the Fire Emblem and Dragon Quest Imageries

Tunage

Finish updating the older posts into the new format and adding in new material
Create Ryo Umemoto and Yuko Takehara’s posts

Metroid Retrospective

Write piece for Metroid Prime 3 Corruption and Metroid Other M
The Arsenal of Samus Aran wrap-up
Samus Aran character essay

Looking Back

Continue on adding awards to each year, continuing from 1988. Finish 2011′s.

Retro Comps

Continue breaking down each comp game-by-game.

Favorite Games

Get the Dreamcast, Game Boy/GBA and Super NES write-ups done.

Most Wanted

Continue that series.

General Editing

Keep an eye out for spelling/grammar/sentence structure mistakes and fix them as needed.

I think that’s the extent of it. Wish me luck in accomplishing at least some of this in three months plus adding new material!

Hey-o. School’s done!

Cereblation!

So yes, I’m done with finals. I’ve got one A+ for sure, and I’m positive my other two classes will also offer me A’s, so all is well. My first semester was wonderful, and I already miss it.

So! Summer is now on. Next week is going to be a little crazy because I skipped work for the most part to both study for finals and recover from some nasty allergies/cold symptoms, which are lingering a bit. I have plans for LVLs. in mind, but it may take a bit for them to actually grow. I’ll be posting a little more regularly, but keep in mind that I want to really improve my blog writing, so it may even out to about where it was while I was in school until I get the swing of my new writing habits down.

It is good to be done, and I am excited about having some free time soon to put into here. :)

LVLs. a la WordPress is 3 years old today!

Time is short, but I do want to thank all of our lovely viewers who have meandered our way over the past three years. LVLs. would still keep plugging on, but the support is wonderfully appreciated and motivating. :) I’d also like to thank all of the LVLs. team who aid me in supplying it with awesomeness. Again, I’d still be marching on if I were alone, but the site would not be what it is without your backing. :)

I’ll be busy with a bit of work and finals studying over the next couple of days, so I’ll see you this weekend once those exams are put to rest (hopefully I do well on them!).
