Opinion: Decade of Memories – The 15 Best Pieces of Video Game Art this Decade

Video games have been a centerpiece for fantastic art direction, and is a major selling point for my initial interest in a particular title. Thankfully, the past decade has seen no shortage of spectacular artwork in the medium, and I’ve selected fifteen individual examples of exemplary execution to celebrate below. These samples are representative of…

Opinions: Decade of Memories – The 15 Best Video Game Fan Arts this Decade

Fan art is something I was once really really into collecting. Around 2015 I sort of backed off from doing so, but I’ve been revisiting DeviantArt and reconnecting into that channel of inspiration and craftsmanship that can emphasize how amazing characters from games can be when reinterpreted by their fans. Another E3 has zoomed by, and while this year’s show lacked a lot of the shock and awe last year’s contained (not much was going to top Final Fantasy VII Remake, Shenmue III, The Last Guardian and NiER Automata from Sony’s show), there was still a lot to be excited about this year. Here are…
